Sylvie Chen, Head of Sotheby’s 20th Century Chinese Art Department, said: “We were very pleased with the performance in today’s sale of works by blue-chip 20th Century Chinese artists, especially Zao Wou-ki, the most sought-after Chinese Master of the 20th Century whose international appeal continues to grow, as well as for Sanyu, who like him worked and studied in France. It is also worth noting that five works sold for more than HK$10 million and several lots sold for multiples of their pre-sale estimates.” |
